Our Services

Please find below a list of the services we provide and a brief introduction to each financial product area. We would be happy to discuss your requirements so please do contact us for an informal discussion to see how we might be able to help you.

Financial Planning

What is financial planning? To us, it’s looking at how you earn and understanding the role this has in achieving your life objectives. We then work out what you can afford to put towards achieving those life objectives, such as paying off the mortgage, buying a second home, paying for school fees, retirement and financial freedom or simply investing one’s spare income and capital in an efficient way.

We then use our experience and training to advise on the right use of the tools available to help you achieve those goals with the wealth that’s available. This might result in an investment portfolio, a retirement planning strategy, an insurance package to protect you against the unknown. It may also involve a tax mitigation or minimisation strategy or advice around the most efficient way to draw from one’s assets when you reach a decumulation phase of your life. It might also involve planning for later life care or passing on as much of one’s assets as possible to future generations whilst still retaining control and flexibility as required.

Financial planning involves listening to you and understanding your goals and then designing a plan, explaining a plan in terms you can understand and then implementing that plan to suit you and your families’ requirements.

And finally It encompasses the on-going monitoring of that plan and altering that plan as required as we travel along that life path together as client and adviser.

Pension Planning

For many of our clients, one of the most important goals on their journey to financial freedom is the accumulation of a substantial retirement fund. We ensure that our clients make use of all available tax allowances and employ a blend of strategies designed to ensure that when they choose to retire, they have built up sufficient assets to provide them with the income they desire.

Creating a retirement strategy that works for you within the current pension funding rules.

Whilst retirement planning has become increasingly complicated for high earners, we create specific retirement strategies that meet your individual aims and objectives, that utilises not only the most suitable pension option, but also utilises other tax allowances such as building an ISA portfolio as well as an investment portfolio which can accumulate over a long period and takes advantage of the capital gains tax regime which can be very advantageous if planned correctly.  For those with a higher risk appetite, then investment vehicles such as Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) and Enterprise Investment Schemes (EISs) can be effectively deployed. We can search our panel of carefully selected providers to
find you the most suitable solution for your needs

Regardless of your status, we can advise you on the full range of pension product options both when building for retirement and advising when at or in retirement. Our holistic approach will help advise you on the flexibilities of income drawdown, the tax efficient production of an income from all sources of wealth and Inheritance Tax planning as required.

THE VALUE OF PENSIONS AND THE INCOME THEY PRODUCE CAN FALL AS WELL AS RISE. YOU MAY GET BACK LESS THAN YOU INVESTED.

VENTURE CAPITAL TRUSTS (VCT) & ENTERPRISE INVESTMENT SCHEMES (EIS) INVEST IN ASSETS THAT ARE HIGH RISK AND CAN BE DIFFICULT TO SELL SUCH AS SHARES IN UNLISTED COMPANIES. THE VALUE OF THE INVESTMENT AND THE INCOME FROM IT CAN FALL AS WELL AS RISE AND INVESTORS MAY NOT GET BACK WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY INVESTED, EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE TAX BENEFITS.

Savings and Investment

Everyone is different and that’s why we begin by understanding your financial personality, getting to know you, your situation, your attitude to risk, any investment preferences you may have and what you want your investments to achieve for you and your family. This enables us to provide you with the appropriate services and level of advice and support you need.

Experience has taught us that people will look to have an investment strategy in place that’s designed to meet their specific goals and time horizons, one that is well-researched and constructed for their individual needs.

You may be looking to grow the long-term value of your wealth, to provide an income for your retirement or to pass capital on to future generations. A successful portfolio is one that balances investment potential with a level of risk that you find acceptable. The process involves understanding the objectives, understanding the level of risk you’re prepared to take, setting an appropriate asset allocation policy with a style of wealth management that suits your preferences and then ensuring that the solution selected not only meets the parameters set at outset, but also continues to do so in the future. We will also monitor the criteria and reaffirm they’re still suitable or change them in consultation with you in the future as required.

Taxation

Most of us face being taxed on our income, our capital gains, and in some circumstances the value of our estate when we die.

Taxation can be very complicated, and the rules, reliefs and allowances often change, so it is worth obtaining a clear grasp of how these taxes work by discussing with a professional adviser the most efficient way to arrange your finances.

An expert will be able to help you plan your taxes in advance and come up with effective strategies that will use the lawful reliefs and allowances to minimise the amount you have to pay.

Estate Planning and Inheritance Tax (IHT) Planning

Having worked hard to accumulate your wealth and achieve financial freedom, many successful people are naturally keen to put in place the right plans and tax-saving strategies to ensure they leave as much of their estate as possible to future generations.

We have an excellent track record of advising and assisting individuals in preserving their wealth and passing on as much of their wealth as possible within appropriate parameters to their heirs.

We can help to reduce your IHT liability by using a variety of different planning strategies such as:- The use of Business Relief Qualifying investment structures, gifting assets into a range of different trust structures with different flexibilities in terms of retaining some access to income and capital, making gifts from surplus income, using suitable life assurance policies and maximising your annual tax-free allowances.

As we always take a holistic approach to our client’s finances, the plans we help them put in place for the benefit of future generations always take account of their own ongoing financial requirements, such as the potential need to pay for long term care. Your needs come before the needs of future generations, so we generally won’t suggest estate planning strategies UNTIL we’re sure you have sufficient income and capital for the rest of your life.
